New Partners Sign On

Three new partners have joined the wave of support for the L Prize competition, agreeing to promote the winning L Prize products through incentives, educational campaigns, retail partnerships, demonstrations, and other means. Efficiency Vermont, Nevada Power, and Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation have all signed on as the newest L Prize Partners. Pictured at our Portland Workshop (left to right) is new partner Gabe Arnold, Efficiency Vermont, with steering committee members Gregg Ander, Southern California Edison; James Brodrick, DOE; Mary Matteson-Bryan, Pacific Gas & Electric; and David Alexander, Pacific Gas & Electric.

At the DOE Workshop, Gregg Ander from SCE encouraged other utilities and efficiency organizations to join as L Prize partners, describing the collective pull of partner support: Access to larger markets, more buying power, lower product costs (encouraged by larger volumes), and increased rate of market adoption.

The L Prize steering committee – including representatives from DOE, PG&E, SMUD, SCE, Efficiency Vermont, and Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corporation – met during the July workshop to discuss next steps, including planning for field assessments of L Prize submissions.
